'Day in the Life'

Here goes nothing! Thanks to Navigating the Mothership for hosting this month's Day in the life.

I chose Sunday, Oct. 2, as the Day in the Life. (Most of the picture were taken on my phone- so most are blurry. Sorry!)

8:33 a.m.-Good morning time!

I hear a "Mommmmmmmmmmmmiiiieeeeee" coming from down the hall. It's Ava. In her dress from the night before (we attended a very lovely and FUN wedding reception and the girl wanted to sleep in her princess dress. Don't judge me!)
Emma and I cuddling

9:04 a.m.
Daddy has to get up for work! We lay/cuddle in bed watching TV (Disney's pirate show and Calliou).
Messy bed hair!

9:45 a.m.
The girls and I head downstairs after daddy has left for work to eat some breakfast (cupcakes?! asks Ava)

and the animals follow as they are holding their pee and want to eat breakfast too!
Poor, starving animals (not!)

Helping beat the eggies for breakfast.

Emma feeding the kitty.

10:30 a.m.
After breakfast (eggs, sausage and apple slices), I set the girls up with Toy Story 3 (just 45 minutes left of the movie that I DVR'd about two months ago) so I can clip my coupons from Sunday's newspaper.

Breakfast time!
Coupon clipping essentials: scissors, pen and iced coffee!
11:15 a.m.
Show is done, mommy is done clipping. Ava wants to take a bath and use her new bath crayons. Emma wants to watch "Peppa Pig" and refuses to go upstairs to take a bath.

11:45 a.m.
Emma finally joins us in the tub and joins Ava in the drawing-on-the-tub festivities and they fight over the crayons.
 Noon
Nail/toe clipping and manicure time for the girls! I paint the girls finger and toe nails, because it's the only way I can clip their nails while they sit still (knowing they will have princess nails).
 1 p.m.
Momma FINALLY gets a shower (only pic of the day of me-- sorry!)

1:20 p.m.
I start some laundry and fold the clothes that have been sitting in that basket for the past four days (sorry babe!)

2 p.m.
Writing texts between folding and getting the girls' shoes on to go outside, deciding what to do while waiting for my sister to get off work so we can see her new place. We decide to go and ride bikes outside, do some rose pruning and attack the viney/devil plant that is trying to take over the front yard, and take all the garbage cans out because garbage day is tomorrow.
Ava playing in the driveway
Emma riding her tricycle
Sisterly love!
Emma's marching band
Emma's marching band followed by a parade of her sister, dog.. and kitty
4:01 p.m.
Leave the house to meet my sister at the Hellmart (Walmart) parking lot two cities over from us so we can follow her to her new digs about 35 minutes away.

5:10 p.m.ish
Arrive at my sister's new apartment. Super cute. The girls love it! And plant themselves to watch The Lion King on VHS. YAY sister for having the movie that is 'their' movie (that they did walk out of two weeks ago after watching an hour of in 3D at the local movie theater).

6 p.m.
Order pizza from Domino's. Have you tried their Web site to order? Super easy and fast!

7:30 p.m.
Cuddle time while watching Sleeping Beauty with Auntie E (after looking out her balcony, getting a tour of her apartment, eating pizza, jumping around, chasing each other and building with Jenga blocks).

8:33 p.m.
Driving over the bridge which connects my sister and I... and miles in between (the Martinez/Bencia bridge).

9:10 p.m.
Arrive home. Get the girls out of the truck, whom surprisingly are STILL awake and running around the front yard like mad women!

9:22 p.m.
Get the girls upstairs and in jammies, teeth brushed, warm milk and "Goodnight Moon."

9:33 p.m.
Hear giggling, singing and a couple of "Mommmmmmies!!!!" and "Emmmmmma!!!" and "Avaaaaaaaaa!!!"

9:45 p.m.
Go upstairs after pausing "Desperate Housewives" and another round of little cups of warm milk.

9:49 p.m.
Ice cream time! Unpause "Desperate Housewives."

10:30 p.m.ish
Husband gets home after a long day at work and a 9 p.m. softball game.

10:31 p.m.
Unpause "Pan Am" and continuing watching with husband.

11:15 p.m.
Get Chicago Bear's game from DVR for husband and watch 10-15 minutes of it.

12:01 a.m.
Night-night time for mommy and daddy.

  1. Wow, what a super long and busy day!!! Your girls are SO adorable! And now I see the key to getting them to eat their meals and not fool around is to sit them at opposite ends of the table! I'll have to remember that at our next meal!

That is CRAZY that your girls were born on the same day, a year apart. You couldn't have planned it that perfectly if you tried!!!

  3. Love that you watched Lion King on VHS - we have tons of Disney movies on VHS but no one I know has a VCR anymore!
